STARFLEET COMMAND
Starfleet's foundational mission is to "boldly go where no one has gone before," seeking out new life, new civilizations, and new worlds. Starfleet Research and Exploration Command, often shortened to Starfleet R&E, was an administrative section of Starfleet and the second largest primary command of Starfleet Command.
SOLAR SYSTEM RESOURCES
AS HUMANITY EXPANDS beyond THE Earth, explorING the Solar System, uncovering vast reserves of metals, ices, and gases across planets, moons, and asteroids. Through robotic probes, orbital stations, and AI-driven miners, these resources were mapped and harvested — from helium-3 on the Moon to hydrogen in Jupiter’s skies. Solar-powered forges, mass drivers, and automated extraction networks transformed raw cosmic matter into fuel, habitats, and technology, marking the dawn of the
Interplanetary Resource
Age, where exploration evolved into industry among the stars.
ASTRO-HARVEST
Inner Planets (Mercury, Venus, Mars):
Metals (iron, nickel, titanium), volatiles, and atmospheric gases harvested via robotic mining, thermal extraction, and high-altitude processing platforms.
Gas & Ice Giants (Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune): Hydrogen, helium, and helium-3 collected through atmospheric scooping and orbital gas harvesters; ices and hydrocarbons mined from moons and rings. Moons, Asteroids & Outer Bodies: Water ice, oxygen, rare metals, and silicates extracted by autonomous drills, solar furnaces, and mass drivers for in-space construction and fuel production.
EXPLORATION & DISCOVERY
Starfleet's foundational mission is to "boldly go where no one has gone before," seeking out new life, new civilizations, and new worlds. Starfleet Research and Exploration Command, often shortened to Starfleet R&E, was an administrative section of Starfleet and the second largest primary command of Starfleet Command. The main role of the agency was to fulfill the Starfleet's mandate of exploration and discovery.

LUNAR BASE ONE
- Helium-3: Mined from lunar regolith using automated skimmers and microwave extractors; refined for fusion fuel powering the Solar System.
- Metals & Silicon: Extracted via laser and solar smelting; used to build spacecraft, habitats, and high-grade AI components in orbit.
- Water Ice & Oxygen:
Harvested from polar craters by cryo-drills; converted into life support supplies and rocket propellant through electrolysis.

MARS & ITS MOONS
- Mars: As the SDF's primary base, Mars benefits from and controls the resources harvested from its moons. Its economy and military might are directly fueled by this mineral wealth.
- Phobos: This moon is described as containing easily accessible veins of iron and nickel, bypassing the need for complex ore refinement. This has made it a major site for the SDF's efficient and rapid construction of warships.
- Deimos: Mining stations on Deimos harvest valuable metal resources. These facilities also serve as critical spaceports and refueling stations for spacecraft traveling to and from Mars.
SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY
Starfleet is at the forefront of scientific and technological progress, constantly pushing the boundaries of knowledge and developing new technologies. Science Command is the agency responsible for governing scientific research and development within Starfleet. Personnel serving under the purview of the command were known as the Starfleet Scientific Corps (SSC). The agency also worked closely with the Federation Science Council.

THE NEPTUNE CLUSTER
- Neptune: Early colonists constructed orbital stations to harvest the planet's abundant helium-3, a highly valuable fuel source.
- Triton: Settlers also colonized Neptune's icy moon, Triton, which features a subsurface ocean. The colony flourished by harvesting resources until the SDF's raids forced an evacuation.
- Lagrange asteroids: The asteroids sharing Neptune's orbit provided further resources for construction and boosted the local economy.
MATERIALS & RESOURCES
This division encompasses departments like Engineering and Logistics, which are crucial for acquiring, transporting, and managing raw materials. resource acquisition (mining), transportation, refining, and inventory management. which includes the provision and delivery of raw materials for various applications, including construction and manufacturing.

THE URANUS CLUSTER
- Uranus: Similar to Neptune, the UNSA established helium-3 fuel harvesting operations in Uranus's atmosphere using robotic aerostats. These operations were later seized by the SDF.
- Ariel: A human base on this moon supervised the robotic fuel harvesting from Uranus's atmosphere. When the SDF took over, they executed the colonists who refused to leave.
- Umbriel: This moon was the site of a solar power array used to power the robotic fuel-harvesting operations in Uranus's atmosphere. The array was necessary due to the low amount of sunlight reaching the outer solar system.
- Oberon: A floating city was being constructed in Oberon's orbit for deployment in Uranus's atmosphere but was abandoned after the SDF takeover.
PLANETARY SCIENCES & GEOBIOLOGY
The sciences division was the corps of officers and crewmen within Starfleet who specialized in both scientific and medical research and control, aboard starships. Members of the sciences division specialized in sensors, research, theoretical and physical laboratory work, biological studies, and also worked as technicians, medics, and surgeons. Members of the sciences division belonged to such science departments as astrometrics, astrophysics, astrosciences, geophysics, hydroponics, medical, planetary geosciences, quantum mechanics, and stellar cartography.

OTHER CELESTIAL LOCATIONS
- Titan: During "Operation Burn Water," the player attacks a key SDF fueling station on Saturn's moon, Titan, suggesting the moon's atmosphere or surface provides a valuable energy source.
- Mercury's orbit (Vesta 3): This UNSA-operated mining colony, which harvested resources from an asteroid, was shot into the sun by the SDF to cripple the UNSA's supply chain.
- Europa: While the specific resources aren't detailed, Europa is a known R&D site in the game, where advanced technology and weapons are developed and likely utilize unique materials from the moon.

ARSTROLOGY & ASTRONOMY
Astronomy is the scientific study of celestial bodies, space, and the universe, relying on observation and mathematical analysis to understand phenomena beyond Earth's atmosphere. Astrology is a non-scientific belief system that claims celestial positions influence human lives, personality, and events, but is considered a pseudoscience by the scientific community.
